Visual Studio Achievements for Windows Phone in Beta

Karsten Januszewski of Channel9 announced a while ago about the Visual Studio Achievements project. What is even more awesome is that there is an open API that exposes the list of achievements earned by Channel9 members that signed up for the service. I took that as a challenge to develop a Windows Phone application that will allow me to track the achievement metadata for various members.

Today I am announcing the beta program for Visual Studio Achievements for Windows Phone.

Currently, the application can:

  • Track achievements fro multiple accounts
  • Compare achievements between Channel9 members
  • Pin Channel9 user accounts to the start screen for easy access to their personal achievements

As I am still developing the project, here are the features planned to be included in the final release:

  • Achievement sharing (Email, Twitter, Facebook)
  • Push notification to alert about new achievements for tracked users
  • Comparison of an unlimited number of users

The application is currently available in the Windows Phone Marketplace for users who signed up for the beta program. If you want to be a part of it, shoot me an email or use any methods of reaching me listed here. Provide your Live ID email and I will list you as a beta tester.

And before you ask, yes – those who tested the application and provided any form of feedback will be listed in the about page when the final release comes out.

You do not have to have a developer account on AppHub or have a developer-unlocked phone to be a beta-tester for Visual Studio Achievements for Windows Phone.

If you are a developer and want to mess with some source code, you are more than welcome to visit the project CodePlex page.
